Which Dress To Wear For Your Body Type
Everybody, and EVERY BODY are different. Learning to dress your body type makes finding the right DRESS a cinch! Below are 5 Main Body Types, and the perfect dress for each type. This is just a basic starting point, and most of us are a combination of these types anyway.
1. FULL HIPS & THIGHS
For us ladies who are PEAR shaped, and have thicker bottoms, an A-LINE Dress is a MUST!
It is cinched at the waist, and that defines the middle, making more of an hourglass shape.
2. FULL WAIST/ MIDDLE
For ladies that have an APPLE SHAPE, the type of dress you should wear is an EMPIRE OR DROP WAIST to re-define your waistline. Low waistlines hide the middle, and draw attention away from the waist. An EMPIRE cut dress sits right below our breasts.
3. Small Bust
If you have a small bus you are an INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE.Stay away from plunging necklines, and opt for a simple SHEATH DRESS that doesn't draw attention to your bust. Also wear a dress with a DETAILED BODICE, which will create the illusion of a larger bust size.
4. Slim or Thin
The really thin petite lady has a RECTANGLE SHAPE and should wear a dress that both adds curves, and shape. You create the illusion of an hourglass figure with the HALTER DRESS and/or PEPLUM cut which enhances the look of larger HIPS.
5. All Body Types
Every lady should have the GO-TO-DRESS! The perfect dress cut for ANY BODY TYPE is the SHIFT DRESS. It flatters every body type, and flows perfectly. Pick a POP Color for extra OOOMPH!
6. Hourglass Shape
If you have an HOURGLASS SHAPE you are perfectly proportioned, and have the right balance on top, and bottom. This helps in finding the perfect dress, as you can wear multiple styles, and cuts. Just find the perfect one for you.
I hope you found this Blog Post helpful, as I tried to break it down to the basics. Color is also an option for helping to camouflage the negative, and accentuate the positive.
Hi Kim! It's YeshaRose from VintageCurvez!I love your website. I think you have a great blog with lots of wonderful blog post that I didn't know you had written! I read your blog post about the different dress options for different sizes and I learned a lot of info that I didn't know about. I was especially surprised to find out about the SHIFT DRESS, which kind of reminds me of the MOD DRESSES of the late 60s & early 70s. I would like to know Kim, how does this information about dresses apply to women when we wear maxi dresses, maxi skirts, pencil skirts and other skirts. Do the same rules apply for skirts as well as dresses for our various body shapes? I'd love to see a blog post about skirts Kim๐๐๐! Anyway, the info that you mentioned on colors was great too. I would love to know more about how we women can incorporate different colors in our wardrobe to compliment our style and shape (especially plus size women like me๐). Great Blog Post Kim. Looks like you may be on your way to writing a STYLE BOOK FOR US KIM (HINT HINT๐๐๐๐๐)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback YeshaRose! I do have a FREE E-Book "Who Do You Wanna Be Tonight?" that helps with 7 different styles of Wardrobe, each based on Style Personalities... The Skirts have the same principle. The styles are meant to help create the perfect hourglass shape! I am in the process of Creating a post & How-To Video about Color Analysis. It is part of a Course I'm creating called "Steps To Style...A Complete Style Strategy". Stay Tuned & Thanks always! Much Love!...Kim
