Home School Resources for Parents During Coronavirus

Home School Resources for Parents During Coronavirus

Parents are under more stress today than ever before..Now, on top of everything else parents do, they are responsible for their child's education. I have been reading blogs, and listening to podcasts to see which resources are out there for parents during this Coronavirus Stay-at-Home order.

Being a former Childcare Center owner, I have personally been reaching out to many friends and former parents, to share some resources I found.

Kahn Academy - CLICK HERE FOR INFO

Kahn Academy has been around for Home Schoolers for a while. Now they have stepped up their resources with LOADS OF FREE RESOURCES! They offer Daily Schedules, Mandatory Curriculum, Outdoor Activities, Webinars, as well as Online HELP & SUPPORT FOR PARENTS.

They also have a RESOURCE PAGE ON FACEBOOK with Daily Posts with Loads of helpful Activities.

Apex Learning- CLICK HERE FOR INFO

Apex Learning is an Online Learning Platform that is used for Home School, but they also have programs in combination with the Public School System, and Your child is registered through their school.

This is the Platform I use for my 16 year old daughter, and she was registered through our local Public School. She also was going 2 days a week for 3 hours each day. It helps us alot, as my daughter likes the smaller classroom structure, and has less anxiety, because the Teacher basically lets them self-study, when they are at school, but is available when they need help.

My daughter, as well as many other children in America use an app called BRAINLY, to help them with lessons, and to find the right answers to tough problems.

SO NO MATTER WHICH ONLINE CURRICULUM YOU USE, THIS IS A PARENTS BEST FRIEND!

This BRAINLY APP allows your child to take a photo of the question, and all the available answers come up. yes, it's kinda questionable for cheating, but in a pinch, or when YOUR NERVES ARE SHOT, AND YOUR KIDS ARE STRESSED, it is a Lifesaver!

On the DESKTOP, your child will type in the question in the BRAINLY SEARCH BAR, and the available answers come up, but IT DOES REQUIRE YOU TO WATCH A VIDEO, with AD'S, before you get the right answer. The APP DOES NOT.

It's not for everyone, and PLEASE DON'T JUDGE, but for a mother of a special needs child, that has high anxiety, and a learning disability, it's been the ONLY WAY our family has GOTTEN THROUGH HOME SCHOOL.

If YOU OR YOUR CHILD ARE HAVING A HARD TIME Home Schooling, I highly suggest this app.

Connections Academy- CLICK HERE FOR INFO

Connections Academy has ONLINE PUBLIC HOME SCHOOL in almost every state. Certified Curriculum, State Testing, Video Teaching, Excellent phone support, and onboarding support. You have to register, and upload to send required documents, since it is a PUBLIC SCHOOL FORUM.

We used this for a year, and the support was great, and the SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT I got for my daughter was amazing, but the Curriculum was harder than most PUBLIC SCHOOLS, at least it was for my daughter. This is just my opinion. As a parent, it was EVEN HARD FOR ME TO HELP HER, with the Curriculum. So we stopped after one year.

I love the support, and they are awesome as a whole organization, but was not right for my family personally.

For Preschoolers- ABC Mouse- CLICK HERE FOR INFO

ABC Mouse has tons of Preschool Curriculum, Art, Math, Science, etc..to help Parents with Home School. It is a Colorful, engaging WEBSITE PLATFORM that millions of parent used way before Coronavirus.

The MUSIC, BRIGHT COLORS,  AND FUN GAMES makes it a FAVORITE for Parents and their Preschoolers.

My Grandkids love it!, and it's a healthier, more teachable platform than You-Tube...lol

This is a trying time for everyone. Most of all, us parents that now are struggling to give our kids the best we can give. It's hard, at times, but know, there are many resources out there, besides the ones I've shown here.

PLEASE TAKE CARE, STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY, BUT ABOVE ALL REMEMBER...THERE IS HELP FOR US...THERE IS HOPE FOR THE FUTURE..AND

We're All in This Together!

Much Love...Kim
