DAY 2 (CONTINUED)
BEACH HOPPING HONEYMOON
DESTIN FLORIDA
Day 2 of our Beach Hopping Honeymoon, we were still traveling because we had hotel reservations in Destin, so we chose not to stay the night in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. Destin and Panama City Beach were our major destinations!
We arrived in Destin, checked in to our hotel, and hurried to the Beach! It was my 1st time in Florida, and Brad hadn't been since he was 5, and barely remembered.
IT WAS AMAZING! The emerald green and blue water took or breath away! The white sand beaches were just as beautiful as people said, and we were in heaven! The water baby in me RAN TO THE WATER, and I dove right in! How soothing it was after a long day traveling. It was kinda cloudy, but it didn't matter to us.
After an afternoon at the beach, we headed back to the hotel. WE had seen a little local eatery called THE SHRIMP BASKET on our way back, and decided it would be our dinner destination. It had more cars in the parking lot, and a longer wait line than the larger Restaurants! It was a sign, we thought, so we chose to wait in line, hoping our "SIGN" was correct, and it was!
We had the most AMAZING< local seafood ever! We started or meal with Oysters on the Halfshell (our fav) and ended it with their house specialty the "SHRIMP BASKET". The staff was friendly, and the drinks were ice cold! We love the Local "Dive Joints" because they always have the BEST FOOD!
We sat at the bar (quicker service for drinks) and usually a faster dinner too! It was neat to see the staff shucking oysters! They were so fast! Brad even gave me a little lesson...lol The meal was definitely worth the wait, and we were right about the "SIGN" that the fullest parking lots show how good the food is! lol
After dinner, it was getting dark, so we decided to take a drive to check out the local scene. The Destin Harbor & Boardwalk were so scenic and crowded, we wanted to skip that scene for a more romantic setting to have our NIGHT 2 WEDDING CEREMONY!
We wanted a COMMITMENT PRAYER to GOD, in honor of our faith, and loyalty to each other. It meant alot to us, and bonded us together in a unique way! My heart was so full at that moment. I was so thankful, that after 50 years, and 2 failed marriages, I had found the LOVE OF MY LIFE!
Back in the car, after the Prayer, we wanted to find a nice romantic place to chill in the dark, at the beach. We drove down Hwy 98 (Beach Coast) and stumbled upon a fireworks show! Little did we know that estin shoots of fireworks every Thursday night in the summer. What a nice surprise!
Further down the highway, we found a little public park on Okaloosa Island, and found us a nice, quiet romantic spot to savor the moment, each other, and our honeymoon experience at the Beach.
The sounds of the ocean were so soothing and calming. It was a true moment to remember! We sat there for a while, just taking it all in. When we proceeded to leave, we seen that we were locked in by barricade! We had NO IDEA the park closed at 10 pm! OMG! WHAT NOW?..We noticed on the sign, after the fact...lol..but seen the local sheriff phone number to call for assistance. They came and had a good LAUGH, and let us out of the park! Wow! Folks at home aren't gonna believe this! lol
How embarrassing. But the night will always give us a little chuckle when we think about it!
We thought it was best, after that, to call it a night, and we drove back to the hotel. AAAhhh! the bed was just what we needed, and that was the end of day 2 of our Beach Hopping Honeymoon!
